Since its establishment in 2005, the Department of Melanoma and Sarcoma at Peking University Cancer Hospital has developed into a national-level oncology diagnosis and treatment center integrating medical care, education, and research. The department boasts a strong medical research team and a clinical translational laboratory. With an annual outpatient volume exceeding 30,000 visits and over 8,000 inpatients treated, it is the largest and internationally renowned diagnosis and treatment center for malignant melanoma and sarcoma in Asia. The department has a well-structured and highly skilled talent team. It currently comprises 10 full-time physicians, 2 full-time researchers, and 2 contract physicians. All full-time physicians hold doctoral degrees, including 5 chief physicians and 2 deputy chief physicians, along with research core members such as principal investigators and associate principal investigators. The academic leader, Professor Guo Jun, serves as Vice President of the Melanoma World Society (MWS) and Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO). The team includes recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, Young Top-Notch Talents from the Organization Department of the Central Committee, and several provincial and ministerial-level talent program awardees, forming a core force leading professional development. As the lead unit for the Chinese Melanoma Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines, the department has long focused on comprehensive medical treatment for skin malignancies such as malignant melanoma and soft tissue sarcomas, adhering to a clinical-needs-driven approach to research innovation. It has led 96 registered clinical trials (including 7 international multicenter studies) and 67 investigator-initiated trials (IITs), undertaking all registered studies of melanoma drugs in China. This has successfully facilitated the approval of 7 milestone new drugs, including Vemurafenib, Dabrafenib/Trametinib, and Pembrolizumab, significantly improving the treatment landscape for Chinese patients. In terms of research, the team focuses on cutting-edge areas such as tumor immunotherapy, resistance mechanisms and reversal, anti-angiogenesis, and targeted gene therapy. It has secured over 50 national, provincial, and ministerial-level research projects, with total funding exceeding 80 million RMB. Achievements have been honored with awards including the Second Prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the China Anti-Cancer Association Science and Technology Award, and the Second Prize of the Chinese Medical Association Science and Technology Award. The team has published over 100 SCI papers in top international journals such as the *New England Journal of Medicine*, *Journal of Clinical Oncology*, and *Lancet Oncology*, with a cumulative impact factor of nearly 1,000 and over 2,000 citations. Additionally, the department has led the development of 4 international standards, created 13 innovative diagnosis and treatment protocols, and chaired or participated in the compilation of 3 guidelines related to melanoma from the National Health Commission, CSCO, and CACA. Its research findings have repeatedly revised international NCCN guidelines and been presented as oral reports at ASCO and ESMO annual meetings, continuously advancing the integration of Chinese melanoma diagnosis and treatment practices into the global stage, contributing "Chinese wisdom" and the "Peking University approach" to the global fight against cancer.
