He has been awarded one International Science and Technology Cooperation Project by the Ministry of Science and Technology, four National Natural Science Foundation projects, the Key Project of the Capital Medical Development Fund, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, and the former Medical Administration Bureau's "Sail Plan," among others. In 2009, he was selected as a leading figure in hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumor surgery under Beijing's "215 Talent Project" and as one of the "Top 100 Health Talents" in Beijing. In 2017, he was selected for Beijing's "High-Level Innovation Program" as a leading health talent and the former Beijing Medical Administration Bureau's "Peak" talent training program. He has long been dedicated to the diagnosis, surgical and comprehensive treatment, and translational research of hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and retroperitoneal tumors. He has cultivated a united, highly skilled, and enterprising departmental team. His team emphasizes the biological behavior of tumors and a holistic approach to tumor treatment, advocating the concept of "hands following the brain, combining concepts with techniques," and focusing on precise patient stratification and individualized treatment. On one hand, for patients assessed as needing such interventions, they have performed complex and innovative surgeries, including pancreatic cancer surgery with combined vascular resection and reconstruction, retroperitoneal sarcoma surgery with multi-organ resection, and associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS), bringing hope to many patients and families who had no other options. On the other hand, under appropriate indications, the team also emphasizes trauma control and minimally invasive concepts, actively performing laparoscopic and robot-assisted hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumor resections, as well as organ-preserving pancreatic and duodenal tumor surgeries. In recent years, he has led the team in conducting extensive perioperative comprehensive treatments, initiating or participating in multiple clinical studies, including perioperative chemotherapy combined with targeted and immunotherapy for retroperitoneal sarcoma, conversion therapy for borderline resectable/locally advanced pancreatic cancer, perioperative conversion therapy for complex hepatocellular carcinoma/cholangiocarcinoma, and comprehensive treatment for colorectal cancer liver metastases, aiming to maximize survival benefits for patients through individualized comprehensive treatment. In the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumors, he authored China's first guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases in 2007 and successfully established the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment platform for colorectal cancer liver metastases at Peking University Cancer Hospital in collaboration with relevant hospital departments. In 2009, he pioneered in China the pancreaticoduodenectomy combined with large-segment portal vein-superior mesenteric vein resection and anastomosis without artificial vascular grafts and published a paper on it. In 2012, he successfully performed Asia's first associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) and published a paper in 2014. In the field of retroperitoneal tumors, he published China's first expert consensus on retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcoma, the "Peking University Cancer Hospital Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Retroperitoneal Soft Tissue Sarcoma," in 2015. Based on this, in 2019, in collaboration with the Surgical Operation Group of the Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Sarcoma Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and the Soft Tissue Tumor Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care, he published the "Chinese Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Retroperitoneal Soft Tissue Sarcoma." In 2015, he established the Soft Tissue and Retroperitoneal Tumor Multidisciplinary Collaboration Platform at Beijing Cancer Hospital and China's first Soft Tissue and Retroperitoneal Tumor Center. In 2016, he established the Expert Committee of the Soft Tissue Tumor Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care, making significant contributions to the nationwide promotion of standardized treatment for retroperitoneal sarcoma.
