From 2009 to 2010, he conducted research at the Affiliated Hospital of Technical University of Munich, Germany, specializing in neural invasion in pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis. He applied for research projects and published multiple high-quality English SCI papers. These studies preliminarily elucidated and explored the mechanisms of neural invasion in pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, as well as the role of neurotrophic factors in promoting tumor invasion and metastasis. Through upregulation and inhibition, the regulatory mechanisms were preliminarily investigated. This research provided valuable data for studying the relationship between pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, and pain, as well as reducing metastasis and recurrence of pancreatic cancer, achieving an internationally advanced level.
After returning to China, he has primarily focused on basic and clinical research on colorectal cancer liver metastasis. He received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program) and is also conducting research to construct a molecular genetic map of colorectal cancer liver metastasis in China. This work aims to provide data support for clinicians to accurately classify patients, predict prognosis, and offer individualized treatment plans. His team performs approximately 800 colorectal cancer liver metastasis surgeries annually, reaching an internationally leading level. He actively promotes standardized diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastasis and has long supported national and regional lectures organized by the National Health Commission, the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and the CSCO. His team has repeatedly won top honors in national colorectal cancer liver metastasis MDT competitions.
He places great emphasis on both basic and clinical research. He has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program), Beijing Natural Science Foundation (General Program), Capital Development Fund, and Capital Characteristic Fund. He has published over 60 papers in prestigious journals, including *Cancer Discovery*, *Gut*, *Annals of Surgery*, *Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics*, and *American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology*, with a cumulative impact factor of over 300.
