Focusing on major scientific and technological issues in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, he pioneered the establishment of a comprehensive surgical-centered diagnosis and treatment system for gastric cancer, forming a new system of precision surgery, a new model of perioperative chemotherapy, and a new strategy of immunotherapy, significantly improving patients' long-term survival and quality of life, and setting multiple new international standards. He has published 298 SCI papers in journals such as JAMA, Science, Cell, PNAS, Lancet Oncol (3 papers), Nat Med (2 papers), and STTT (2 papers), including 9 highly cited papers, with a total of 27,066 citations and an H-index of 73. He has led the development of 23 guidelines and consensus documents, including the first domestic clinical practice guideline for gastric cancer and the National Health Commission's guideline for gastric cancer diagnosis and treatment. He has edited 18 monographs, including the first international English-language monograph on gastric cancer; founded the *Chinese Journal of Cancer Research*, which is included in SCI; holds 20 authorized patents; and has obtained one National Class I New Drug Certificate. He has received the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award; as the first completer, he has won one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and four first prizes at the provincial and ministerial level.
