Yin Lei, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Physician, Director of the Department of Nephrology, Executive Deputy Director of the Rare Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, and Deputy Director of the Internal Medicine Teaching and Research Office. Her main clinical work includes the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric renal and autoimmune diseases, such as complicated urinary tract infections in infants and young children, refractory nephrotic syndrome, IgA nephropathy, acute kidney injury, childhood hypertension, hyperuricemia, renal tubular disorders, lupus nephritis, Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis, Takayasu arteritis, thrombotic microangiopathy, macrophage activation syndrome, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and dermatomyositis. She has also accumulated extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis of rare and difficult pediatric diseases. Since 2011, she has been a member of the Rare and Difficult Disease Outpatient Team at Shanghai Children's Medical Center and was responsible for the quarterly teleconsultation work between SCMC and Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago. She is the associate editor-in-chief of "Treatable Rare Diseases," the first clinical monograph on rare diseases in China. She currently serves as a member of the Rare Disease Medication Working Committee of the Chinese Pharmacists Association, a member of the Rare Disease Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, the deputy head of the Nephrology Group of the Pediatrics Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, a member of the Vasculitis Group of the Rheumatology Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, and an expert in the identification of adverse reactions to vaccination for the Shanghai Medical Association. Overseas training: She has studied at the Department of Nephrology of the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and the Departments of Nephrology and Rheumatology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in the United States, focusing on the treatment of refractory nephropathy and autoimmune diseases in children, the diagnosis and treatment of autoinflammatory diseases, the application of biologics, as well as the management of childhood hypertension, hemodialysis, and the care of pediatric kidney transplant recipients. Main research interests: The pathogenesis of primary nephrotic syndrome in children and the treatment of refractory nephropathy. She has published over 20 papers in SCI-indexed and core statistical source journals.
