Dong Wei, Associate Chief Physician, Deputy Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery Main Research Directions: Minimally invasive surgical diagnosis and treatment of pediatric congenital heart disease. Minimally invasive cosmetic axillary surgery for congenital heart diseases such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, tetralogy of Fallot, patent ductus arteriosus, double outlet right ventricle, and valvular heart disease. Research on cardiac and vascular materials and their applications. Long-term engagement in clinical and research work on pediatric minimally invasive cardiac surgery, including ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, tetralogy of Fallot, and valvular diseases. Has conducted research on minimally invasive surgery for pediatric congenital heart disease, correction of complex heart diseases, and ECMO. Performs over 1,000 surgeries annually, with 700 cardiac surgeries as the primary surgeon per year. Cumulative surgical cases exceed 5,000, with a complexity rate >40%, reoperation rate >15%, minimally invasive surgery rate >80%, and level IV surgery rate >90%. The lightest surgical patient weighed only 900g, and the youngest patient was 2 hours old at birth.
