Professor He Xiaoshun is the Academic Leader and Director of the Organ Transplantation Center at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, a Central Healthcare Specialist, Visiting Professor at Harvard University and Cornell University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, World Transplant Association China Region Champion, Chief Scientist of National Disruptive Innovation Technology, Vice Chairman of the China Organ Transplantation Development Foundation, Member of the China Organ Donation and Transplantation Committee, Editor-in-Chief of *Organ Medicine*, Chairman of the Precision Medicine Committee of the Chinese Hospital Association, Standing Committee Member of the Organ Transplantation Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, President of the Guangdong Society of Organ Medicine and Technology, Chairman of the Organ Transplantation Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Organ Medicine, and Director of the Organ Donation Research Institute of Sun Yat-sen University.
Guided by clinical problem-solving, Professor He Xiaoshun has achieved systematic original innovations in ischemia-free organ transplantation, organ medicine, multi-organ transplantation, and organ donation, addressing disciplinary challenges such as poor transplant outcomes and organ shortages: 1. Invented ischemia-free organ transplantation technology, solving the global challenge of organ ischemic injury. Recognized as one of the "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovations of 2017" by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ministry of Science and Technology. 2. Proposed the concept of "organ medicine," pioneering a new field for medical research and treatment at the organ level. Won the National Championship in the Biomedical Group of the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. 3. Established a simplified multi-organ transplantation technical system, providing a curative approach for end-stage multi-organ diseases. Awarded the Second Prize of the 2015 National Science and Technology Progress Award. 4. Overcame technical challenges in donation after cardiac death, providing technical support for China's citizen organ donation reform. Received the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the Guangzhou Mayor's Award for Science and Technology, and was nominated for the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
Professor He Xiaoshun has received two Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one Special Prize of the International Quality Innovation Competition signed by the President of Finland, one First Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, five First Prizes of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, two Second Prizes of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the First Prize of the Ministry of Science and Technology China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the Wu-Jieping Medical Award. He has been honored as a National Excellent Scientific and Technological Worker, a State Council Special Allowance Expert, a National Health and Family Planning Commission Outstanding Contribution Expert, a Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talent, and one of the "Top 100 Talents of Southern Guangdong." He was awarded the "70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" Commemorative Medal and was granted the honorary title of "Joseph E. Murray Visiting Professor in Transplant Surgery" for 2024 by Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard University (the first Asian recipient).
