Primarily engaged in liver transplantation, islet transplantation, pancreatic transplantation, and hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and splenic surgery, including minimally invasive endoscopic surgery. Performed over 1,000 cases of liver transplantation, conducted the first islet transplantation in South China with more than 40 cases completed, and performed over 100 cases of pancreatic transplantation, leading the field both domestically and internationally. Has led 14 research projects, including 5 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, 1 National High-Tech R&D Program (863 Program), and 1 Major Science and Technology Project of Guangzhou.
