Department Overview: The Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center of Peking University Cancer Hospital (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") was established in 1998 with funding from the Beijing Municipal Key Discipline Special Project. In 2004, it developed into a specialized clinical center integrating clinical care, teaching, and research for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer and other breast tumors. The Center specializes in breast-conserving therapy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, neoadjuvant therapy, ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy, and immediate breast reconstruction. It comprehensively provides whole-course medical services, including early breast cancer screening, precise diagnosis, comprehensive treatment of primary breast cancer, individualized follow-up and rehabilitation, and treatment of recurrent breast cancer, while also dedicating efforts to advancing clinical and basic research in the field of breast oncology. II. Medical Resources and Personnel Structure The Center is equipped with 4 independent outpatient consultation rooms, 64 inpatient beds, a dedicated outpatient biopsy room, and an ultrasound diagnostic imaging room, providing one-stop diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up services for breast cancer patients. The Center has a professional medical team with a well-structured composition and extensive experience. As of 2025, the department has a total of 29 physicians, including 6 with senior professional titles (Professor level), 9 with associate senior professional titles, and 22 with doctoral degrees, forming an academic clinical team with high-end talent as the core and mid-career and young professionals as the backbone. III. Specialized Techniques and Treatment Outcomes 1. The Center's leading specialized diagnostic and therapeutic projects in China include: ● Ultrasound-guided interventional diagnosis of breast lesions ● Axillary sentinel lymph node biopsy ● Breast-conserving therapy and oncoplastic surgery ● Intraoperative radiotherapy during breast-conserving surgery ● Breast reconstruction for patients ineligible for breast-conserving surgery ● Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and neoadjuvant endocrine therapy 2. Treatment Outcomes ● As of October 2025, the Center has managed over 26,000 cases of primary breast cancer through its whole-course management system. ● Long-term follow-up data shows: For lymph node-negative patients, the 10-year recurrence-free survival rate is 88.2%, and the overall survival rate is 92.5%. For lymph node-positive patients, the 10-year recurrence-free survival rate is 68.8%, and the overall survival rate is 76.7%. ● By molecular subtype: The 10-year recurrence-free survival rates for HER2-positive, triple-negative, and hormone receptor-positive patients are 76.8%, 79.0%, and 82.2%, respectively. ● Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy: Since its standardized implementation in 2005, this technique has allowed over 70% of patients treated at the Center to avoid unnecessary axillary lymph node dissection. Data from 2,947 patients with negative sentinel lymph node biopsy, with a median follow-up of 8.8 years, shows an axillary local recurrence rate of only 0.9%, reaching internationally advanced levels. ● Breast-Conserving Therapy: Data from a cohort of 2,778 patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery, with a median follow-up of 102 months, shows a 10-year local recurrence rate of only 1.8%; this rate further decreased to 0.9% after 2007, comparable to top international standards. IV. Note: If you need to rule out a tumor or have been advised by another hospital to seek a definitive diagnosis, you can prioritize obtaining initial advice through the online initial diagnosis consultation. Center physicians will provide preliminary advice and an outpatient appointment within 2 working days, helping you arrange your visit conveniently and reduce travel. 2) Specialist Clinic Function: Responsible for arranging anti-tumor treatments such as outpatient chemotherapy, anti-HER-2 therapy, and endocrine therapy; evaluating results of regular follow-up examinations; and managing complex diagnostic and treatment issues. Appointment method: Booked during the clinic visit. 3) Online Convenience Clinic Function: Arranges regular follow-up tests for returning patients, prescribes oral anti-tumor medications, laboratory tests, and specified examinations. VI. Important Notes for Patients Visiting the Center: 1. Waiting Time for Biopsy The appointment time for biopsy pathology depends on the current number of confirmed patients awaiting hospitalization and the queue of patients pending examination. To minimize the pre-admission waiting time for patients diagnosed with breast cancer, the scheduling of biopsies for some non-urgent patients may need to be delayed accordingly. Procedures After Pathological Examination Before the pathology report is issued, you generally do not need to make another appointment or visit unless there are special circumstances. If the pathology confirms a malignant tumor, the Center's online clinic physician (via the "Post-biopsy Follow-up" channel on the APP) will arrange standard pre-admission tests for you and assign you to the appropriate treatment group based on your preference (the Center has two treatment groups, both led by senior attending physicians and following unified diagnostic and treatment protocols). If the pathology does not confirm a malignant tumor, the clinic physician will provide follow-up recommendations. 3. Special Reminder for Patients from Outside Beijing Most breast cancer treatments (e.g., outpatient chemotherapy) involve long cycles, potentially lasting several months. To ensure treatment safety and timely management of chemotherapy-related adverse events, it is recommended that patients receiving chemotherapy reside within half a day's travel distance from the hospital. 4. Emergency Services For urgent situations after chemotherapy, such as white blood cell counts dropping below the critical level, the Center has an emergency channel. Staff will prioritize management to minimize your waiting time. VII.
