Department of Gynecologic Oncology, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and genetic counseling of gynecologic tumors, as well as the graded management of precancerous lesions of the endometrium and cervix. The Gynecologic Oncology Department of Fudan University Affiliated Hospital originated in the 1960s from the Oncology Surgery Department of Zhongshan Hospital and the Oncology Surgery Department of the Cancer Hospital. Guided by the exemplary leadership of senior gynecologic oncology experts and through the efforts of three generations of discipline leaders, the volume and quality of diagnosis and treatment for ovarian cancer and cervical cancer have ranked among the top in China. In September 2014, the ovarian tumor diagnosis and treatment team led by Zang Rongyu from the Gynecologic Oncology Department of Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center relocated to Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. In 2015, the Gynecologic Oncology subspecialty was established within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Zhongshan Hospital. Clinical diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic tumors, particularly ovarian tumors and cervical cancer, have achieved significant progress. As the founder and first chair unit of the Shanghai Gynecologic Oncology Group (SGOG), the department continues to lead multiple investigator-initiated international and domestic multicenter clinical studies on ovarian tumors, gaining recognition from international peers. It has initially established China's first gynecologic tumor diagnosis and treatment team characterized by specialized management of ovarian tumors and other specific diseases, integrating clinical practice, research, and education. In November 2020, to further promote disciplinary development, with the leadership and strong support of the hospital's Party and administrative leaders, the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Zhongshan Hospital was officially established as an independent department, with Zang Rongyu serving as its first director. Currently, the department has 3 chief physicians, 1 doctoral supervisor, 2 master's supervisors, and 1 full-time researcher. 【Medical Features】 1. Diagnosis and Treatment of Gynecologic Tumors Permanent specialized clinics include: Ovarian Tumor Specialist Clinic, Cervical Lesion Specialist Clinic, Endometrial Lesion Specialist Clinic; Gynecologic Tumor (Clinical Trial) Follow-up Clinic, Gynecologic Tumor Genetic Counseling Clinic, and six specialized disease clinics for Cervical Lesions, Colposcopy, Endometrial Lesions, and Hysteroscopy. In the past two years, the annual number of radical gynecologic tumor surgeries has exceeded 800 cases, with an annual growth rate of 28-31%. 2. Clinical Research Multiple studies rooted in clinical needs are conducted, with 80% of ovarian cancer patients enrolled in various clinical trials. 3. Prevention of Gynecologic Tumors In 2014, a Cervical Lesion and Endometrial Lesion Diagnosis and Treatment Group was established. In early 2015, an Ovarian Cancer and Gynecologic Tumor Genetic Counseling Clinic was launched, focusing on the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of various gynecologic tumors. Multiple tumor science popularization platforms and websites have been established. 4. Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Diagnosis and Treatment Standardized and innovative diagnostic and therapeutic techniques include nerve-sparing surgery for cervical cancer, fertility-preserving surgery for cervical cancer, single-port laparoscopy and transvaginal single-port laparoscopy (V-NOTES), fluorescence-guided lymph node dissection, and Da Vinci robotic surgery for gynecologic tumors. 【Major Research Achievements】 The overall survival analysis results of the Phase III multicenter study (SOC-1) comparing secondary cytoreductive surgery followed by chemotherapy versus chemotherapy alone for platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer were published online in *Nature Medicine* in June 2024 and simultaneously reported at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41591-024-02981-0).
