The Department of Hepatobiliary Tumors and Liver Transplantation at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, is a national key discipline in oncology, the supporting unit of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Liver Cancer Professional Committee, the Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Invasion of the Ministry of Education, a National Key Clinical Specialty of the National Health Commission, the chair unit for single-disease quality control of liver cancer at the National Cancer Center, the Shanghai Top-Priority Liver Tumor Clinical Medical Center, a Shanghai Key Clinical Specialty, a key discipline under Fudan University's "211 Project," and the supporting unit for the "985 Project" and the "Top-Priority" tumor project of Fudan University. Its scale and clinical expertise rank among the top internationally. The department is led by Academician Fan Jia as the chief, with Professor Zhou Jian as the academic leader. It currently has 52 staff members, including 34 with senior or associate senior professional titles, and over 95% hold doctoral degrees. In 2015, the "Liver Tumor Clinical Medical Department Building" was put into use, providing 300 inpatient beds (including 4 general wards, 1 special-needs ward, and 1 intensive care unit). Over more than 50 years of development, the Department of Hepatobiliary Tumors and Liver Transplantation has achieved precise classification, precise localization, and precise treatment of diseases, fully leveraging its professional advantages and leading role. It adheres to a people-centered approach and, in line with the requirements of "Healthy China," provides comprehensive, full-cycle health services to the public.
