The Department of Vascular Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University primarily diagnoses and treats vascular diseases of the neck, chest, abdomen, abdominal organs, and extremities, including various types of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, arterial stenosis and occlusion, arteriovenous fistulas, arterial and venous thrombosis and embolism, vascular malformations and varicose veins, venous ulcers and diabetic foot, establishment, repair, and reconstruction of vascular access, as well as retroperitoneal tumors involving blood vessels. The department has achieved domestically advanced levels in both open vascular surgery and minimally invasive endovascular therapy. The team has long-term academic exchanges with the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, regularly sending personnel for training. Based on the existing scientific research foundation of the discipline and in combination with the hospital and departmental conditions, the team actively conducts research. In particular, the department is domestically leading and internationally advanced in traditional open surgery, minimally invasive endovascular treatment, and hybrid surgical approaches for aortic diseases. Depending on the patient's condition, the vascular surgery team can employ traditional open surgery, minimally invasive endovascular intervention, or hybrid surgery to treat various cardiac, aortic, and peripheral vascular diseases.
