Department Details
The Department of Cardiac and Great Vessel Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University integrates medical care, teaching, and research. It currently comprises two wards: the 18th floor of the New Inpatient Building in the Yanjiang District and the 10th floor south ward of the Datansha Inpatient Building, with a total of 68 open beds. The department offers a comfortable environment and state-of-the-art equipment, with both wards equipped with independent post-cardiac surgery intensive care units. Specifically, the Yanjiang 18th floor ward has a Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) with 5 beds, while the Datansha 10th floor south ward has a CSICU with 10 beds. The Datansha CSICU includes two independent glass-enclosed laminar flow isolation rooms (Class 10,000), each bed newly equipped with the latest generation N15 monitors, PICCO cardiac function monitoring modules, eight-channel infusion workstations, ventilators, and other devices. Additionally, it is furnished with bedside cardiac color Doppler ultrasound, electrocardiogram machines, fiberoptic bronchoscopes, and other comprehensive equipment, supported by a well-established management system. The departmental team is well-structured, with robust technical expertise and adequate staffing. The department has a total of 14 physicians, all holding master's degrees or higher, including 2 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, and 5 attending physicians. The nursing staff comprises 47 members, including 1 deputy chief nurse, 13 supervising nurses, and 16 senior nurses. The departmental team continues to expand, with current specialized subgroups including: Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease Group, Cardiac Valve Group, Great Vessel Group, Heart Transplantation Group, Pulmonary Hypertension Treatment Group, Postoperative Intensive Care Group, and Extracorporeal Circulation Group.
