The Department of Radiology (Imaging Diagnostic Center) of Shanghai Children's Medical Center, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, has three doctoral supervisors, five chief physicians, six associate chief physicians, and one associate chief technologist. The Department of Radiology (Imaging Diagnostic Center) is a national key clinical specialty construction project discipline. It leads in the number of national-level scientific research projects among children's hospitals in China. It is equipped with a pediatric brain science magnetic resonance research platform and various advanced large-scale medical instruments, with equipment conditions ranking among the top in children's hospitals nationwide. These include multiple high-field MRI scanners such as the Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma 3.0T, GE Discovery MR750 3.0T, and United Imaging uMR 790. Other equipment includes one GE Discovery 750HD 64-slice Gemstone CT, one Toshiba Aquilion One Vision multi-slice wide-detector CT, one United Imaging 64-slice spiral CT, two DSA cardiovascular angiography machines (GE Innova 2100 and PHILIPS Allura Xper-FD 10/10), one GE Nuclear Millennium MG SPECT machine, one Toshiba EX-8 digital gastrointestinal machine, three direct digital radiography systems (from Carestream and PHILIPS), and five ultrasound machines (including two Philips iU22 color Doppler ultrasound machines, one Siemens ACUSON S2000, one GE Logiq 9 color Doppler ultrasound machine, and one GE Logiq E9), among other advanced devices. Since 2006, the hospital has fully implemented a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), now networked across the entire hospital. This has enabled digital radiography, filmless wards, and an automated film retrieval system for outpatient services, significantly improving patient flow and enhancing medical quality. Currently, over 60 experienced physicians and technicians provide high-quality imaging examinations and diagnoses for both children and adults, backed by strong technical expertise and excellent service attitudes. The Department of Radiology (Imaging Diagnostic Center) serves as the former chair and current vice-chair unit of the Pediatric Group of the Chinese Society of Radiology, a member of the Society for Pediatric Radiology (North America), a standing committee member of the Asian and Oceanian Society for Pediatric Radiology, and a member unit of the Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease Expert Group of the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Imaging. It pioneered pediatric cardiac MRI and fetal MRI (especially fetal cardiac MRI) in China, maintaining a leading position among domestic children's hospitals with distinctive features. In pediatric tumor imaging, it focuses on building multidisciplinary team (MDT) approaches, actively contributing to MDT practices. Utilizing advanced radiomics technology combined with artificial intelligence, it develops tumor prediction models. It was also the first to implement 3D printing technology for congenital heart disease, serving both clinical and educational purposes. The Department of Radiology (Imaging Diagnostic Center) also strives to improve its talent training system: while strengthening the clinical and research skills of young physicians, it emphasizes the recruitment of clinician-scientists to elevate overall research capabilities. It focuses on talent development to build a well-structured talent echelon.
