The Department of Nuclear Medicine was established in 1997. The department is equipped with one Siemens Biograph mCT 64 PET/CT, one Siemens Symbia Intevo 16 and one GE D670 SPECT/CT, one technetium gas generator, one C-13 breath test analyzer, and multiple advanced in vitro immunoassay instruments, including gamma immunoradiometric counters and electrochemiluminescence analyzers. Our department has always been clinically oriented, dedicated to providing distinctive and high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, complex pulmonary diseases, and Helicobacter pylori infection. The main imaging services include PET/CT imaging, bone imaging, lung ventilation imaging, lung perfusion imaging, and deep vein imaging of the lower extremities. In vitro diagnostics primarily encompass tumor markers, thyroid function tests, and C-13 breath tests. Therapeutic services mainly involve the use of 89SrCl2 to alleviate pain in patients with multiple bone metastases. Our high-quality clinical practices have been widely recognized by both patients and clinicians, serving over 100,000 patient visits annually. The department currently has 19 medical, technical, and nursing staff, including 2 with doctoral degrees and 8 with master's degrees; 2 with senior professional titles, 1 with associate senior title, and 10 with intermediate titles; and 1 master's supervisor. The department has secured multiple research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as projects from the Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Municipal Health Commission. It has published over 20 SCI papers, edited 1 monograph, co-edited 1 monograph, and contributed to 6 monographs. The department serves as a master's training site and has trained numerous graduate students. It also hosts national continuing education programs and provides theoretical courses for undergraduate and graduate students at Tongji University, while accepting visiting scholars year-round.
