The Toxicology Department of our hospital is one of the first national key clinical specialties in occupational diseases. It primarily comprises a physical and chemical laboratory, an occupational disease diagnosis group, an occupational hazard detection and evaluation group, and an occupational health examination unit. The diseases treated include acute and chronic occupational chemical poisonings, such as lead poisoning, mercury poisoning, benzene poisoning, and gasoline poisoning; occupational respiratory diseases, such as occupational asthma and occupational chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; and ear, nose, throat, and oral diseases, such as occupational noise-induced hearing loss. The department is equipped with first-class physical and chemical testing devices in China, capable of conducting over 40 types of in vivo toxic substance tests, meeting the needs of teaching, research, and medical care. Relying on the hospital's comprehensive medical equipment, the department is at the forefront of the country in occupational disease diagnosis, treatment and rescue, differential diagnosis, medical assessment of occupational disability, and occupational health examinations. As the city's chemical poisoning emergency treatment center, our department is responsible for on-site guidance and rescue operations for chemical poisoning incidents. In recent years, it has successfully handled a series of large-scale sudden group chemical poisoning events, maintaining a leading position domestically. Additionally, the department has undertaken medical security tasks for major events such as the World Expo and the China International Import Expo. Our department has a strict management, supervision, and review mechanism for occupational health examinations and occupational disease diagnosis procedures. The certificates issued, such as the "Occupational Health Examination Results Report," the "Shanghai Occupational Disease Diagnosis Certificate," and the "Summary of Medical History for Occupational Disability Assessment in Shanghai," serve to legally protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers, occupational disease patients, and employers, providing high-quality technical services to occupational disease patients.
