The Hypertension and Vascular Disease Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is the first specialized department in China integrating clinical diagnosis and treatment, scientific research, and teaching for hypertension and vascular diseases. The department has a well-structured team and complete facilities. Its non-invasive vascular function testing laboratory houses the most comprehensive vascular function assessment system in China. In addition to providing routine diagnostic and therapeutic services such as standardized diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, peripheral angiography, balloon angioplasty, and stent implantation, the department also offers specialized non-invasive vascular function examinations, including central aortic pressure measurement and arterial stiffness assessment. The department undertakes a number of national, provincial, and municipal research projects, including the "Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China" and the "Major Science and Technology Support Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology." It has published a series of related papers both internationally and domestically and is responsible for teaching postdoctoral fellows, doctoral students, master's students, and undergraduates. The department annually hosts the China (Guangzhou) Vascular Disease Forum and the Training Course on Early Detection and Application of Vascular Lesions, maintaining close academic exchanges and collaborations with countries and regions in Europe and the Americas.
