**Department Overview:** The Gynecology Department is a National Key Clinical Specialty, a Guangdong Provincial Key Clinical Specialty, a National Level 4 Gynecological Endoscopy Training Base, and an authorized training base for the GESEA Endoscopic Surgical Skills Education and Assessment System. The department currently has 51 physicians on staff, including 13 with senior professional titles (Professor/Chief Physician level), 10 with associate senior titles, and 28 with junior or intermediate titles. There are 5 doctoral supervisors and 23 master's supervisors. The Gynecology Department is organized into an outpatient clinic and five inpatient wards (Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4, and the Special Needs Ward). Clinically, it is divided into four subspecialties: Gynecologic Oncology, General Gynecology, Gynecological Endocrinology, and Pelvic Floor Disorders. The Gynecologic Oncology subspecialty focuses on the treatment of ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, and gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. General Gynecology and its related subspecialties focus on the diagnosis and treatment of benign gynecological tumors, pelvic floor dysfunction, genital prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, endometriosis, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and other gynecological conditions. **Clinical Work:** The Gynecology Department operates Professor-level outpatient clinics and specialist outpatient clinics from Monday to Saturday. The outpatient services include specialized clinics for Gynecologic Oncology, Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation, Cervical Lesions & Colposcopy, Gynecological Endocrinology & Menstrual Disorders, Endometriosis, Hysteroscopy, and Post-operative Follow-up. The clinics receive nearly 1,000 patients daily, with an annual outpatient volume exceeding 300,000 visits. The gynecological inpatient wards currently have 224 operational beds, with an average of over 10,000 discharges per year and nearly 10,000 surgical procedures annually. The department is characterized by its expertise in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, capable of diagnosing and treating a wide range of common and complex gynecological conditions, achieving a level of care that is domestically advanced and establishing itself as one of the most influential gynecological centers in South China. In recent years, the department has actively promoted minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly endoscopic and vaginal surgeries, for treating benign and malignant gynecological tumors, endometriosis, cervical incompetence, cesarean scar defect, cesarean scar pregnancy, uterine prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, and genital tract malformations. The department has established a patient-centered, disease-focused multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment model, forming a multidisciplinary team (MDT) led by gynecology, with support and collaboration from related disciplines including Radiology, Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacy, Critical Care, Cardiology, Surgery, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hematology, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Oncology. This model has effectively improved the diagnosis and treatment level for complex gynecological cases. **Scientific Research:** Main Research Directions: Clinical application of gynecological endoscopic surgery in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases; clinical and basic research on endometriosis; diagnosis and treatment of gynecological malignancies (cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, and ovarian cancer). In the past 5 years, our department has focused on a series of clinical and basic research projects related to the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of gynecological malignancies, achieving fruitful results. The "Series Study on the Application of Gynecological Laparoscopy in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Gynecological Diseases" won the Second Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award. In the past 5 years, one faculty member received the title of "Pearl River Scholar (Young Scholar)". The department has undertaken 1 International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Over the past 5 years, it has undertaken a total of 58 research projects at the national, provincial, ministerial, and various other levels, including 15 national-level projects, and has published over 100 SCI-indexed papers. In terms of clinical research, the department has undertaken 3 Sun Yat-sen University 5010 Clinical Research Projects and has collaborated with domestic and international institutions such as the MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA), Tongji Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center on multiple clinical studies, with results published in journals such as *N Engl J Med*, *JAMA Oncol*, *Lancet Digit Health*, and *J Clin Oncol*. Our department is adept at summarizing and disseminating clinical work and research experience through academic writing. We participated in the compilation of the "Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Endometriosis (Third Edition)". Under the leadership of our department head, Professor Yao Shuzhong, the translation of the foreign work "Diagnosis and Treatment of Endometriosis" has been published and well-received. **Talent Development:** The department places great emphasis on the clinical teaching of medical students and the professional training of junior doctors. For many years, it has undertaken the medical education tasks for graduate students, visiting scholars, and undergraduates. Senior faculty members are assigned full-time to oversee clinical clerkship teaching, further improving the quality of clinical education. To date, the department has trained over 50 master's students, more than 20 doctoral students, and hundreds of visiting physicians. Most of these individuals have become key clinical personnel in their respective hospitals. As a Ministry of Health Level 4 Gynecological Endoscopy Training Base, the department conducts multiple national and provincial-level continuing education training courses annually. The Gynecological Laparoscopic Surgery Technique Training Course, initiated in 1997, became a national-level continuing education project of the Ministry of Health in 1998. To date, it has trained over 3,000 gynecological endoscopy specialists from across the country, many of whom have become academic leaders and key figures in their regions. The department also regularly hosts the national-level continuing education project "China-Europe Gynecological Endoscopy Summit Forum," which actively promotes the dissemination of new knowledge and concepts in obstetrics and gynecology. Furthermore, the department admits approximately 200 visiting physicians annually from all over China, contributing to the standardization and normalization of the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases nationwide.
