Department Details

I. Basic Department Information: The Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery Department is a key subspecialty of the National Key Clinical Specialty of General Surgery, with 44 beds. It treats over 1,200 patients annually with benign and malignant pancreatic diseases, biliary tract diseases, and splenic and hepatic diseases. The department performs approximately 1,000 surgeries annually, including open, Da Vinci robot-assisted, and laparoscopic hepatobiliary and pancreatic procedures, such as pancreaticoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, central pancreatectomy, total pancreatectomy, radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, radical cholecystectomy, surgery for hepatolithiasis, and various complex hepatectomies. The department currently has 13 physicians, including 3 professors, 2 chief physicians, 5 associate chief physicians, and 3 attending physicians. There are 2 doctoral supervisors and 6 master's supervisors. Details are as follows: Academic Leader: Liang Lijian Department Director: Yin Xiaoyu Deputy Director: Lai Jiaming Senior Staff: Yin Xiaoyu, Liang Lijian, Lai Jiaming, Wang Qian, Zheng Zhaoxu Associate Senior Staff: Chen Liuhua, Chen Dong, Zhang Kunsong, Huang Li, Chen Wei Attending Physicians: Cai Jianpeng, Yu Junfeng, Peng Hong II. Medical Features The department has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various surgical diseases and complex conditions of the biliary tract, pancreas, liver, and spleen, including cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, gallbladder cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct stones, choledochal cyst, and severe pancreatitis. It routinely performs complex surgeries such as pancreaticoduodenectomy with vascular resection and reconstruction, radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma with vascular resection and reconstruction, extended radical cholecystectomy, central hepatectomy, and extended left/right hemihepatectomy. The department specializes in Da Vinci robot-assisted and laparoscopic surgeries, including Da Vinci robot (or laparoscopic) assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy, central pancreatectomy, spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy, radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, extended left/right hemihepatectomy, and central hepatectomy. Currently, Da Vinci robot-assisted hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries are at an advanced level domestically and leading in South China. III. Research Overview Main research directions include exploring the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic cancer development and progression, clinical and basic research on pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, clinical and basic research on cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder cancer, and clinical and basic research on hepatocellular carcinoma. In recent years, the department has received 7 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants and 15 Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation grants. It has published over 50 papers in SCI journals such as "Cancer Letters," "Cancer," "Br J Surg," "Ann Surg Oncol," "HPB (Oxford)," "Cancer Communications," "Chin J Cancer," "Pancreas," "Chemotherapy & Pharmacology," "Digestive Disease & Science," as well as in domestic core journals like "Chinese Journal of Surgery," "Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery," "Chinese Journal of Hepatobiliary Surgery," and "Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery." Among these, nearly 30 are SCI papers. The department has also edited 2 monographs. (See individual staff profiles for details.) (A) Major Grants: 1.
