It became a master's degree site for burns in 1986 and was designated a doctoral degree site for burns in 1999. **Clinical Work:** Burn treatment at our hospital began relatively early in China. A burn ward was established within the Department of Surgery in 1958, initially managed by senior surgical experts, laying a solid foundation for the establishment of the burn specialty. In 1970, Dr. Li Tianzeng and others were tasked with establishing the Burn Department. Under Professor Li's leadership and the collective efforts of the entire department, with the help and support of domestic senior burn experts such as Academician Li Ao, Academician Sheng Zhiyong, and Professor Shi Jixiang, we have extensively and deeply carried out medical care, teaching, and research work in the burn discipline. We have developed a unique set of methods suitable for treating burns in the southern climate, successfully treating a large number of severely burned patients. Among them, He Weiting, who sustained 100% total body surface area burns with 96% third-degree burns complicated by severe inhalation injury, represented a world record at that time. We have accumulated rich clinical experience in treating extensive severe burns, electrical injuries, hot crush injuries, chemical burns from various causes, radiation injuries, as well as chronic ulcer wounds and pressure sores. With the advancement of modern science and technology, contemporary burn treatment techniques are now widely applied in our department, such as extensive escharectomy with microskin grafting, various flap repairs for deep burn wounds, the use of skin expanders, hemodialysis therapy, and the management of various severe burn complications.
