The Cardiac Surgery ICU is one of the earliest established ICU wards in China. It currently has 3 dedicated ICU physicians. Equipped with first-class monitoring devices, including the most advanced ventilators and ECG monitors, continuous cardiac output monitors, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and other devices, it provides a strong guarantee for the postoperative recovery of patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. The unit primarily admits critically ill patients after various types of cardiac surgeries, including those with complex congenital heart disease, severe valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and major vascular diseases. Following the first pediatric heart transplant performed in China in 1995, it has successfully treated multiple patients after heart transplantation and heart-lung transplantation. It specializes in the perioperative management of severe pulmonary hypertension, complex congenital heart disease, severe valvular heart disease, and coronary artery disease. It also has extensive experience and notable success in managing difficult and critical conditions such as severe low cardiac output syndrome, multiple organ dysfunction, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. The unit possesses considerable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex critical conditions during the perioperative period of cardiac transplantation and heart-lung transplantation.
