The Pharmacy Department of Peking University Cancer Hospital is a comprehensive pharmaceutical unit integrating drug supply, pharmacy administration, clinical pharmacy services, teaching, and scientific research. The Pharmacy Department is responsible for the daily work of the Hospital Pharmacy Administration and Therapeutics Committee, implementing relevant laws and regulations on healthcare and pharmacy administration, formulating the hospital formulary, conducting drug selection, guiding clinical rational drug use, and analyzing and evaluating adverse drug reactions. While ensuring drug supply, the department adheres to a patient-centered approach with rational drug use as its goal. Against the backdrop of deepening healthcare reform, it actively expands the intelligent, standardized, and normalized development of pharmaceutical services, promoting the transformation of hospital pharmaceutical service models. Supported by clinical pharmacy, the department enhances the level of rational clinical drug use through pre-prescription/pre-order review, prescription evaluation, and various forms of rational drug use training, safeguarding patient medication safety. It was among the first in the country to introduce pharmacists into clinical settings, cultivating a large number of skilled and clinically experienced oncology clinical pharmacists who continuously provide evidence-based clinical pharmacy services. Clinical pharmacists actively integrate into clinical medical teams to ensure patient medication safety. Additionally, through the establishment of medication consultation centers, online/offline pharmacy clinics, and educational lectures, the department provides pharmaceutical services such as medication consultation, guidance, and medication reconciliation to patients, improving medication adherence and ensuring safety. Since 2012, full-process informatization management of narcotic and Class I psychotropic drugs has been implemented in the outpatient and inpatient pharmacies, ensuring the quality of management for these substances.
