The operating room of our hospital is a surgical clinical platform department providing surgical treatment for patients. It serves as a key strategic support for Peking University Cancer Hospital in building an internationally renowned oncology specialty hospital. Currently, there are 24 operating rooms, with over 20,000 surgeries for various malignant tumors performed annually, including gastric cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, retroperitoneal tumors, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, renal cancer, bone and soft tissue tumors, and head and neck tumors, covering both common and rare malignancies. Leveraging advanced equipment in the operating room and the extensive experience of the nursing team, the operating room nursing team is proficient in assisting with routine and complex oncological surgeries. The team has rich clinical experience in operating 2D, 3D, and fluorescence endoscopy, ultrasonic scalpels, ERBE, and other devices. They are also experienced in the coordinated use of surgical robots, intraoperative ultrasound, autologous blood transfusion, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, intraoperative radiotherapy, thoracic magnetic navigation, and cardiopulmonary bypass machines. The operating room management team, composed of the department director and head nurse, possesses advanced management concepts and scientific management methods. In particular, they have achieved full-process digital intelligence in surgical scheduling, instrument counting, handover, and shift scheduling. They have also implemented scientific and refined management in human resource management, quality control, equipment management, consumable management, and infection control, ensuring the safety of oncological surgeries. The operating room nursing team is divided into seven specialized groups, led by experienced nursing骨干 who have obtained certification as operating room specialist nurses from the Chinese Nursing Association and the Beijing Nursing Association. These leaders guide the nursing team in continuously refining techniques, striving for excellence, and comprehensively keeping pace with the development of oncological surgery. The teaching management of the operating room team is particularly distinctive, with a well-established teaching system, a strong faculty team, a focus on enhancing job competency, and an emphasis on individualized teaching. While standardizing technical operations and surgical assistance, the team also prioritizes cultivating the humanistic spirit of nurses. In the future, the operating room team will continue to uphold the concept of scientific management, providing comprehensive and professional medical care services to surgical patients.
