The Central Laboratory of Peking University Cancer Hospital was established in 1996. It serves as the technical support platform for the Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Translational Research of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipality. The laboratory is equipped with major platforms including high-resolution biological mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, laser scanning confocal microscopy, high-content imaging analysis systems, multifunctional digital pathology scanning systems, and cellular energy metabolism analyzers, along with a variety of conventional public research instruments. The total equipment assets exceed 50 million RMB. The laboratory staff includes: 1 chief technologist, 2 associate researchers, 3 deputy chief technologists, 1 supervising technologist, and 1 junior technician. The Central Laboratory has achieved effective integration of technology and equipment resources, establishing an intelligent research platform management system. It provides research services and teaching training both within and outside the hospital. The laboratory supports over 100 research projects annually, with more than 30,000 service hours, contributing to publications with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 200. Leveraging the platform, research is conducted in tumor immunology, tumor microenvironment, and metabolism, with participation in and leadership of multiple national and provincial-level projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Beijing Natural Science Foundation. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Over the past three decades, the Central Laboratory has gradually become an experimental base for modular teaching and routine technical training courses for graduate students at Peking University Health Science Center. It regularly conducts one-on-one training on shared large-scale research instruments and has hosted over 60 sessions of the Young Scientist Research Forum. Since 2016, it has undertaken national and municipal continuing medical education projects and has been recognized as a "Peking University Health Science Center Continuing Education Premium Project."
