Deputy Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Renji Hospital, Director of the Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgery Training Center, Director of the Pujiang Training Center of the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons
Specializes in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of intracranial tumors and neurovascular diseases
Research Achievements
As a visiting scholar, he has successively engaged in clinical and related research work at Vancouver General Hospital affiliated with UBC University in Canada, Harborview Medical Center of the University of Washington in Seattle in the United States, and the Barrow Neurological Institute. In 2013, he established Asia's only Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgery Training Center, which was certified by the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons as the Pujiang Training Center in 2016. As first author/corresponding author, he has published nearly 60 SCI papers in well-known journals such as Stroke, Molecular Therapy-Nucleic Acids, and J Neuroinflammation. He participated in the compilation of professional books such as Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, Diagnosis and Treatment of Skull Base Diseases, and Modern Craniocerebral Injury. As chief editor, he authored the monograph Latest Advances in the Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases; as chief editor and translator, he translated the monumental work Comprehensive Management of Vestibular Schwannoma.
Professional Expertise
He has long been engaged in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of intracranial tumors and neurovascular diseases for nearly 30 years. For complex cerebrovascular diseases, he was among the first in China to carry out high-flow intracranial-extracranial vascular bypass surgery, intracranial vascular bypass for the treatment of complex cerebrovascular diseases, and endoscopic resection of skull base tumors, and he combines basic research with clinical treatment to significantly improve the success rate of clinical treatment. He has made outstanding contributions in the surgical treatment of skull base tumors, precision medicine, and basic research. He proposed the 360-degree skull base concept, which has attracted increasing attention and recognition from domestic and international peers; the proposed pan-sellar region concept has made possible one-stage surgical resection of tumors extensively involving the sellar region, cavernous sinus, and clivus. He actively advocates and promotes the emerging diagnosis and treatment discipline concept of MDT-based skull base tumors, applying the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment model for the skull base in clinical practice. Based on basic research, he found that exogenous pyruvate can improve delayed cerebral ischemia after subarachnoid hemorrhage, providing a new idea for the clinical treatment of cerebral hemorrhage.
Personal Honors
In 2016, he was awarded the title of Leading Talent of Minhang District, Shanghai. As the person in charge, he has presided over multiple national and provincial/ministerial-level projects, and participated in projects that have repeatedly won the Third Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award; he has also successively received awards such as Advanced Worker of the Shanghai Health System and was honored with the title of Youth Style Model for Academic Achievement in the first China "People's Good Doctor" awards.
