Our hospital's nursing discipline has distinctive specialized nursing characteristics, with a total of 25 nursing units including ophthalmology, otolaryngology, operating room, emergency, ICU, and outpatient departments. There are currently more than 600 nurses, including 17 nurses with postgraduate degrees or above (including those currently enrolled) and 10 nurses with senior professional titles. For many years, the nursing discipline has adhered to the development philosophy of being steadfast and enterprising, leveraging the professional advantages of our hospital's ophthalmology and otolaryngology departments, cultivating specialized nursing talents, and promoting the development of our hospital's nursing research team, consistently leading the forefront of ophthalmology and otolaryngology nursing development. Relying on the professional influence of the Otolaryngology Professional Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association and the Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Professional Committee of the Shanghai Nursing Association, focusing on cutting-edge research in the field of five-sense organ specialized nursing, significant achievements have been made in specialized nursing fields such as visual rehabilitation, perioperative specialized nursing for head and neck tumor patients, airway management after laryngectomy, speech function rehabilitation, shoulder function rehabilitation, postoperative depression in patients, dysphagia and nutrition management. In the past three years, more than 30 research projects funded by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, Shanghai Hospital Management Association, Fudan University and other research funds have been approved; 12 SCI papers and more than 70 Chinese core journal papers have been published; 14 professional books have been edited or co-edited; 31 utility model patents have been obtained. The team has successively won the Fourth Prize of the Shanghai Nursing Science and Technology Award, the "Shanghai Nursing Work Improvement Achievement Award" from the Shanghai Nursing Quality Control Center, the Excellent Invention Award of the Shanghai Excellent Invention Selection Competition, and the Nursing Device Innovation Award of the Shanghai Nursing Association. Since 2005, the Nursing Department has established a special session for ophthalmic nursing academic exchange at the International Congress of Ophthalmology and Optometry (COOC); in 2008, it held the first Shanghai continuing education specialized nursing training class, and in 2010 successfully applied for a national-level continuing education specialized nursing training class, which has been held for 11 sessions to date; for many years, it has persisted in sharing specialized nursing progress with nursing colleagues from all over the country, with cumulative training of nearly a thousand trainees; more than a hundred refresher nurses have been trained, and 20 graduate students have been guided to graduation; in 2020, it obtained the Beijing-external Practical Base for Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Specialist Nurses of the Chinese Nursing Association, and has trained 25 specialist nurse trainees; through years of accumulation and development, it has gradually formed a specialized academic influence radiating across the country. The Nursing Department attaches great importance to volunteer service and has carefully built the "Shuxin Harbor" Nightingale Volunteer Service Team, carrying out hospital-community-volunteer linked multidisciplinary, multi-professional, and multi-field volunteer service activities. In 2018, the "Shuxin Harbor" WeChat official account was launched and online science popularization was carried out. In recent years, the team has successively won the "Shanghai Medical Ethics Science Popularization Excellence Award," the "Shanghai Red Cross Nightingale Volunteer Nursing Service Team Outstanding Team Award," the "Shanghai Red Cross Bo'ai Shencheng Volunteer Service Project Outstanding Project Award," and the "Shanghai Volunteer Service Advanced Collective." Core members have won the titles of "Shanghai Red Cross Nightingale Volunteer Nursing Service Team Outstanding Individual," "Shanghai Red Cross Bo'ai Shencheng Volunteer Service Project Outstanding Volunteer Award," and "Shanghai Red Cross Outstanding Volunteer." The science popularization video "How to Correctly Use Eye Drops" won the Outstanding Micro-Video Science Popularization Work Award of the Chinese Nursing Association, and the science popularization videos "What to Do If You Have Dry Eyes" and "Prevent and Control Myopia, Read and Write Correctly" won the Second Prize and Third Prize respectively in the "Nursing Angel" Douyin Video Competition of the Shanghai Nursing Association. The Nursing Department is committed to patient health education and actively carries out health science popularization. In 2019, the outpatient "Science Popularization Exploration Space" was opened, applying holographic imaging, virtual sensing, and VR technology for the first time to create science popularization content such as VR experiences for common ophthalmic diseases and exploration of vocal cord movement under laryngoscopy, and also established a science popularization database of 1,000 questions on ophthalmology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, nursing, and medication. Our hospital was selected as one of the first batch of Shanghai Health Science Popularization Cultural Bases in 2018, and the "Science Popularization Exploration Space" became one of its distinctive projects. As of the end of 2021, its science popularization videos had 71,211 online views, and the outpatient health education QR code reading volume reached 27,224. The "Science Popularization Exploration Space" has also been incorporated into the "Minhang District Science Popularization Base" and the "Jin · School District Youth Social Practice Education Base," and serves as the social practice base for our hospital's "Five-Sense Organ Science Popularization Exploration Practice Activity Co-construction" with Minhang District Huangpu No.1 Central Primary School Shibo Campus, opening a new model of hospital-school interaction cooperation. In 2019, the "New Model of Outpatient Science Popularization Education in the All-Media Era" won the "Innovative Medical Service Brand" of the Shanghai Health System. In 2021, the Cloud Science Popularization Museum was opened and won the Shanghai Starlight Plan Finalist Award. For more than sixty years, the nursing staff of the five-sense organ hospital have always adhered to the hospital motto spirit of "Sincerity, Unity, Pragmatism, and Innovation," abided by the Nightingale Pledge, practiced the core value of "Caring is the foundation of nursing," forged ahead with determination and strived for perfection, remained true to the original aspiration and kept the mission in mind, contributing to the hospital's "Double First-Class" construction and safeguarding the health of the people.
