The Blood Transfusion Department of Peking University International Hospital was established in December 2014 and is located on the second floor of the outpatient building. The department currently has the following staff: 1 physician and 8 technicians. The department has a usable area of over 400 square meters, including various functional rooms such as a blood storage room, crossmatching room, blood issuing room, difficult blood type room, and transfusion consultation room. The Blood Transfusion Department is a professional department that integrates the functions of blood product storage, testing, issuance, autologous blood collection and storage, as well as clinical blood therapy. The equipment in the department includes: fully automated crossmatching and blood type analysis instruments, dedicated blood storage refrigerators, low-temperature blood preservation cabinets, platelet agitators, low-temperature workbenches, frozen plasma thawing instruments, etc. The main services carried out by the Blood Transfusion Department include: ABO and Rh blood typing, irregular antibody screening, transfusion compatibility testing, direct antiglobulin test, Rh five-antigen matched transfusion, blood group antibody titer testing, autologous transfusion, neonatal hemolytic disease screening, difficult crossmatching, transfusion therapy and consultation; PRP is about to be launched. The department provides safe and timely clinical blood transfusion services to clinical departments 24 hours a day, and has also mastered the entire process of apheresis stem cell collection, aliquoting, cryopreservation, and recovery.
