The Department of Gastrointestinal, Thyroid, and Hernia Surgery is led by the renowned domestic expert Professor Chen Lin. It has now developed a specialized structure featuring the Gastric Cancer Center as its distinctive sub-specialty, with colorectal surgery, thyroid surgery, and hernia surgery as supporting disciplines. As the Chairman of the Gastric Cancer Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Professor Chen Lin has devoted himself to the field of gastric cancer for many years. Under Professor Chen Lin's leadership, the Gastric Cancer Center has established a professional development direction characterized by internationally leading research on gastric cancer liver metastasis and minimally invasive surgery as its core approach. Based on the gastric cancer multidisciplinary treatment team, efforts are focused on tackling the comprehensive treatment of difficult and complex gastric cancer, conversion therapy for gastric cancer liver metastasis, comprehensive treatment of gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis, robotic minimally invasive surgery for difficult and complex gastric cancer, and single-port minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer. The Colorectal Surgery Department routinely performs minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and single-port surgery for colorectal cancer, as well as comprehensive treatment for colorectal cancer liver metastasis, lung metastasis, and peritoneal metastasis. It also conducts neoadjuvant therapy for mid-to-low rectal cancer and sphincter-preserving surgery for ultra-low rectal cancer. The specialty features of the Thyroid Surgery Department include minimally invasive thyroid surgery and scarless endoscopic/robotic thyroid surgery in the neck (via transoral, transthoracic, and subclavian approaches). The Hernia Surgery Department routinely performs minimally invasive surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease/hiatal hernia, parastomal hernia, incisional hernia, and inguinal hernia. Other services include surgery for gastrointestinal stromal tumors, metabolic and bariatric surgery, and surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, etc.
