The Department of Gynecologic Oncology was established in July 2013 and is located at the Puxi Campus of Renji Hospital. It currently has 36 official beds and 25 medical staff members at various levels: 8 physicians, among whom 5 hold doctoral degrees and 3 are doctoral candidates, with 3 holding senior professional titles; and 17 nursing staff. The department primarily admits patients with benign and malignant gynecologic tumors for surgery-based treatment, while also providing comprehensive oncologic treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy. The Department of Gynecologic Oncology primarily admits patients with gynecologic malignancies requiring surgery. The disease spectrum covers common and rare gynecologic malignancies including cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, and vulvar cancer. Comprehensive treatment centered on surgery is carried out in accordance with international and domestic authoritative guidelines and standards. Surgery for gynecologic malignancies is the department's signature diagnostic and therapeutic program. Since its establishment, the department has completed nearly 10,000 cases of high-risk, highly difficult Class IV gynecologic tumor open/laparoscopic surgeries, with an annual Class IV surgery rate exceeding 50%. The department routinely performs new techniques and procedures such as "3D laparoscopic radical hysterectomy without uterine manipulation," "laparoscopic fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer," "laparoscopic nerve-sparing surgery for cervical cancer," and "fluorescence-guided sentinel lymph node biopsy with comprehensive staging surgery for endometrial cancer." To date, more than 200 cases of fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer have been completed, with low recurrence rates and satisfactory pregnancy rates. Leveraging the hospital's multidisciplinary collaboration platform, the department has developed a distinctive surgical style in open cytoreductive surgery for advanced ovarian cancer, achieving a satisfactory cytoreduction rate of over 80%, thereby improving patient prognosis. The department also performs surgery for benign gynecologic tumors. More than 80% of benign tumor surgeries are completed laparoscopically. The department performs single-port laparoscopic and Da Vinci robotic laparoscopic surgeries, and routinely carries out various procedures including laparoscopic surgery for ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and uterine prolapse. For deep endometriosis (urinary system DIE, intestinal DIE, pelvic floor DIE, etc.), satisfactory treatment outcomes have been achieved through multidisciplinary collaboration. The department has also accumulated rich clinical experience in managing critically ill patients with multiple comorbidities and elderly patients. In addition to surgical treatment, the department closely follows international and domestic treatment standards, actively carrying out new treatment modalities such as immunotherapy and targeted therapy alongside conventional chemotherapy. In recent years, molecular genetic testing for gynecologic malignancies has been routinely performed to standardize treatment models for malignant tumors. For patients with recurrent advanced disease, the department explores effective therapeutic approaches and has undertaken or participated in 6 GCP drug studies. The Department of Gynecologic Oncology continuously promotes comprehensive disciplinary development and actively engages in research and talent cultivation. The department's research directions include clinical and basic research on gynecologic malignancies, research on the pathogenesis of deeply infiltrating endometriosis, and research on artificial intelligence clinical applications in gynecologic malignancies. Over the past 5 years, the department has undertaken 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 8 provincial and ministerial-level projects, led 13 clinical research and GCP studies, participated in 2 international collaborative projects, published over 80 papers, served as chief editor or associate editor for 3 monographs, participated in the compilation of 7 textbooks and monographs, and served as chief editor or associate editor for 8 guidelines related to the discipline.
