The Department of Allergy (Allergology) at Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is a national key clinical specialty construction unit for allergy, one of the distinctive specialties of Renji Hospital, and one of the earliest established institutions for the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases in China. It currently maintains academic exchange and cooperation relationships with multiple high-level allergy prevention and treatment institutions both internationally and domestically, and enjoys a high specialty reputation nationwide. The Department of Allergy at Renji Hospital was founded by renowned Chinese allergists Professor Xu Yiping and Professor Guo Yinshi. Professor Xu Yiping is one of the founders of the Chinese Medical Association Allergy Branch and the founder of the Shanghai Allergy Society. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the 1st and 2nd Committees of the Chinese Medical Association Allergy Branch and Chairman of the 1st and 2nd Committees of the Shanghai Medical Association Allergy Specialty Branch. Professor Guo Yinshi is Vice Chairman of the 5th and 6th Committees of the Chinese Medical Association Allergy Branch, Vice Chairman of the Allergy Medicine Branch of the China International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, Vice President of the Allergy Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Standing Committee Member of the Allergy Disease Prevention and Control Specialty Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Chairman of the 5th Committee of the Shanghai Medical Association Allergy Branch, and the first President of the Allergy Physicians Branch of the Shanghai Medical Doctor Association. The current Department Director, Professor Chen Xiaoxiang, serves as a part-time reviewer for the National Drug Review Center (CFDA), a first-instance expert for the National Natural Science Foundation, a Youth Committee Member of the Rheumatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, an expert committee member of the Genetic Immunology Branch of the Shanghai Immunology Society, a Youth Committee Member of the Infection and Chemotherapy Group of the Shanghai Medical Association, a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Modern Immunology, and a manuscript reviewer for the Fudan University Journal.
